Detailed Background
In middle school at Friendswood ISD, I emerged as a “gifted and talented” student, driven by an insatiable curiosity to explore the unknown. At age six, as most peers were learning the alphabets and basic vocabulary, I was fascinated by the Chemistry Periodic Table, mastering over 100 elements, their symbols, atomic numbers, groups, and periods. While other children honed their skills in basic addition and indulged in video games, I raced to manually multiply two-digit numbers, eclipsing a calculator’s speed. By age ten, when many grappled with introductory science, I devoured Barron’s Anatomy 250 Flashcards – a rigorous resource used by medical professionals.
Throughout high school, I achieved a perfect 4.0 unweighted GPA (4.56 weighted GPA). Beyond academics, I clinched numerous team and individual awards at international, national, and state levels, dominating highly competitive, rigorous, and prestigious contests such as: United States Academic Decathlon (USAD), Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), Music & Band, Martial Arts & Karate, prestigious Science Fairs among others.
As a dedicated student researcher, I secured several awards for my science research projects at the Galveston County Science Fair, Houston and Texas State Science Fairs, including the highly selective Houston Science Fair Legacy Award for engaging in five consecutive years of meaningful scientific research.
Shadowing and scribing experience at various facilities helped me to network with medical professionals and researchers which resulted in co-authorship and partnership on various research endeavors. Propelled by a childhood aspiration to become a medical doctor and a naturally curious mindset, I started taking active interest in medical-related research in eighth grade. Since then, I have co-authored four papers in peer-reviewed journals, with additional research abstracts /papers projected for publication later this year. I have presented /co-presented at various scientific conferences and proudly hold the title of HCA Commons Scholar by virtue of conducting research and co-authoring papers at HCA Healthcare.
Driven by a deep passion for the medical field and an aspiration to become a cardiovascular surgeon, I established the Meditech Club at my high school to propel knowledge at the intersection of AI, Machine Learning, Machine Vision, and medical applications. I have also held leadership roles in various national honor societies, including Mu Alpha Theta, HOSA, National English & Spanish Societies, and NJHS/NHS.
I have also dedicated myself to serving others with love, care, and compassion. This led to profound humility, immense joy and personal fulfillment. I actively engage in various community service initiatives at school. My commitment to community service expands beyond school, as I established Spectrum Navigators, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, that champions autistic individuals, people with disabilities, the elderly, and undernourished children with devoted care. I have also mobilized funds through donations to bolster their well-being, and in past to aid families affected by COVID-19 and the severe winter freezes in Houston.
During my leisure time, I practice martial arts & tennis, play the clarinet, chess, billiards, basketball, and swim to cultivate a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I embrace travel, savoring diverse foods, and capturing moments through photography, having journeyed nationally and internationally to fuel these passions and broaden my outlook.
